Holiday Gifts for Dogs

Happy Holidays! Have you finished your shopping yet? Picking out the perfect gifts for people can be tricky at times! We may not be able to help you choose a present for your mother-in-law, but we can offer tips on what to get your furry best friend! Read on as a local Forest Hill, MD vet lists some great holiday gifts for Fido.

Puppies

If you’re spending the holidays with a puppy, you’re going to have some super adorable—and very special—memories of the coming weeks. Toys are a great gift for young dogs. Little Fido loves to chew, so look for safe, suitable chew toys. (Tip: Kong toys are an excellent option for young dogs.) Your furry friend should also have a crate of his own. You may also want to consider enrolling your pup in doggy daycare. This will give your four-legged friend the chance to run and play with his buddies while you are at work. Training is also important at this stage, so doggy obedience classes are another good bet.

Frisky Adults

Dogs are very energetic and spirited. In fact, some of our canine buddies are furry bundles of zoom! Get Fido some fun toys. If you really want to keep that tail wagging, get Fido a ‘pupscription box.’ Every month, your pet will get a package of doggy goodies, like toys and treats, in the mail. You can also get your four-legged friend a doggy water bottle with an attached dispenser.

Senior Dogs

As Fido gets older, he’ll slow down, and become more interested in belly rubs and bacon than in chasing squirrels and conquering new patches of grass. A comfy bed is a great gift for an older dog! If your pooch has a hard time climbing stairs or getting in and out of cars, get him some pet ramps to help him get around more easily. Your pooch may enjoy a doggy massage. You can also look into pain management treatments, like laser therapy. Ask your vet for more information.

All Dogs

No matter how old your pet is, he’ll appreciate a comfy bed. Treats will also get your canine pal’s tail wagging. You can give your furry buddy some of his favorite treats, or make your own.
